Emoticons, or emoctions, are pretty much used everywhere in text now. It’s another way of showing expression in a text or instant message. The April print of The National Telegraphic Review and Operators Guide used the number 73 in Morse code to express “love and kisses”, which later became just “best regards”. was posted to the Carnegie Mellon University computer science general board on the 19th of September 1982 by a man named Scott Fahlman. Within months it had spread to the ARPANET and Usenet. Later on they would go on to have graphical representation, like what’s commonly seen on instant messengers and cell phones. They are animated now and some can even talk.
